Planning to getting admission in UK? And also got selected in the best university in UK! Congratulations. Now its time to apply for the visa application. It is the essential step to turn your dream into reality. You must prepare your visa application the right way.
Guide to Prepare Visa Application
Here is a step-by-step guide to help you understand the process of a study visa for September Intake in UK.
Get Your Offer Letter First
Before applying for a visa, students must get an offer letter or acceptance letter from the university. Apply to your preferred universities early, and once you get the offer, accept it by following the steps given by the university, by signing or giving an interview, and paying the partial fees.
Pay Your Tuition Fee
Most universities in UK ask for a partial tuition fee payment to issue a CAS, which is a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. This payment confirms your interest and secures your seat.
Receive Your CAS
CAS is an important document to you from the university. It includes your course details, tuition fee status, and a unique CAS number. You cannot apply for a student visa to study in UK without this.
Prepare Financial Documents
To prove that you can afford your living and studies expenses in UK, you must show financial proof to the university.
- Tuition fees as per the CAS
- Living expenses for at least 9 months (around £1,334 per month if studying in London, or £1,023 elsewhere)
- Keep funds in your bank account for 28 consecutive days before applying.
Take Your TB Test
Indian students need to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test at a UK-approved clinic. The test certificate is required while applying for your student visa.
Fill the Visa Application Form
Go to the official UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) website. Fill out the student visa application form carefully and honestly.
Pay the Visa Fees and IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge)
The visa fee is around £490, and you also need to pay the IHS, which gives you access to the UK’s health services.
Book Your Appointment at VFS (Visa Application Centre)
Once you complete the form, book your biometrics appointment at your nearest VFS center. Carry all your documents, including your passport, CAS, financial proof, TB test certificate, and visa form.
Attend the Interview (If Asked)
Some students may be asked for a credibility interview. Be honest and explain your study plans, university choice, and future goals.
Wait for Your Visa Decision
After submission, it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to get your visa decision. Once approved, pack your bags and get ready for your UK journey!
Start this whole process at least 3 to 4 months before September. Stay calm, organized, and be confident. All the best for your education journey in UK.
